Living within Estancia Cerro Negro is not just about owning a plot of land in Patagonia, but about inhabiting an active territory , with history, landscape and real possibilities of connecting with nature.
Both Bosque Río Rubens and Bosque Cerro Negro are located within living Patagonian ranches. Each project features exclusive areas for its owners —such as the 20 hectares of common land in Bosque Cerro Negro or the protected hillside in Bosque Río Rubens—but they are also integrated into a much broader environment, opening the door to a wide range of outdoor activities, always coordinated and in harmony with the Estancia Cerro Negro.
This balance between exclusivity, access and respect for the operation of the stay is an essential part of the project.
Horseback riding: exploring Patagonia on horseback
Horseback riding is undoubtedly one of the most iconic experiences of the region. Those who wish can have their own horses , under a system of shared ownership and responsibility, thus allowing them to participate in a tradition deeply rooted in Patagonian life.
The ranch offers extensive areas accessible by horseback , with trails that will be mapped and organized over time , but where the main principle is freedom of movement. On horseback, much of the land becomes accessible: gentle hills, open areas, riverside paths, and historic cattle trails.
Estancia Cerro Negro also has sheds and corrals that can be used for this purpose, always with prior arrangement. Horseback riding is not a tour, but rather a way to experience the landscape , explore it at a leisurely pace, and understand its true scale.
Fly fishing on the Rubens River: a lively and diverse river
The Rubens River is one of the area's greatest assets. The ranch boasts over 10 kilometers of river , distributed across different sections and banks, allowing for a wide variety of fishing opportunities in a relatively undisturbed environment.
This river originates in large peat bog systems , which play a crucial role as natural regulators of its flow. Thanks to this, the Rubens River does not respond abruptly to rainfall: it absorbs water and releases it slowly, maintaining stable conditions for much of the season.
Brown trout predominate in its waters, along with rainbow trout , and at certain times of the year sea-run trout (trout that grow in the sea and return to the river to spawn) enter, reaching remarkable sizes. There are also large resident trout, with records far exceeding the norm for rivers in the area.
Access to fishing is governed by a clear and permanent rule: catch and release only , as part of the commitment to maintain the health of the river and the continuity of this experience over time.
Kayaking and packrafting: navigating the Rubens
When water levels permit, the Rubens River offers an extraordinary experience for kayaking, packrafting, or fishing boats . It is a gentle and mostly calm river, ideal for those seeking scenic, quiet paddling and a deep connection with the environment.
The option of organizing tours with accessible entry and exit points allows you to cover several kilometers of the river, leaving a vehicle at one point and retrieving it further downstream. Navigating the Rubens River is a unique way to experience the region: from the water, amidst forests, gentle curves, and ever-changing stretches of the river.
Like all Patagonian rivers, its course changes from year to year. Logs, new channels, and natural variations mean that this activity must always be carried out with caution, planning, and safety measures , understanding that it is a living, natural environment.
BTM: explore old paths of the ranch
(Trail network under development)
The ranch has an extensive network of existing trails , formed by decades of livestock use, animal tracks, vehicle roads and old trails from the logging activity that operated in Cerro Negro for years.

These trails now allow for cycling for dozens of kilometers , both along the river and on ascents to Cerro Negro and through the interior of the ranch. Currently, these routes are being mapped and organized to define clear paths that are compatible with the ranch's operations and the owners' use.
Cycling is projected as one of the most versatile activities in the area, always subject to coordination, regulations and schedules , ensuring a harmonious coexistence among all uses of the territory.
Trekking: walking the landscape
(Trails under development)
Cerro Negro is an ideal area for walking and exploring on foot . There are natural trails, wooded areas, hills, and mountains that allow for routes of varying difficulty, from easy walks to more challenging climbs.
One of the highlights is access to Cerro Negro , which already has a trail used for tourism and can be arranged for visits. Furthermore, much of the trekking is free and exploratory, always maintaining safety standards and respect for the environment.
The geography of the place —with the hill always as a visual reference, the river marking orientation and wide open spaces— makes it a territory difficult to get lost in , reinforcing the feeling of safety and confidence when traveling through it.
Livestock activities: participate in the life of the ranch
Estancia Cerro Negro remains a productive ranch , with various livestock activities taking place throughout the year. At certain times, and always with prior arrangement, it will be possible to participate in or observe activities such as cattle roundups, branding, or other typical farm work.

These experiences not only allow us to learn about the workings of the place, but also to understand the ranching culture , its rhythm, its logic, and its relationship with the land. The idea is that, over time, a community will form that values and respects this way of life.
Camping, picnics and family activities
There are several areas within the property where camping is permitted, always with prior authorization and in strict accordance with Leave No Trace principles. Coordination is especially important regarding sensitive issues such as the use of fire , which must be handled with the utmost responsibility.
Many of these areas are sheltered from the wind, nestled among forests or in naturally protected areas, making them ideal for weekend getaways, short stays, and family activities.

Similarly, the area is perfect for picnics, family walks and quiet outings , designed to enjoy the scenery without haste, at different times of the year and always respecting the rules of the stay.
A territory designed for active living

The activities at Cerro Negro are not a closed catalog, but a set of possibilities that will be ordered, mapped and consolidated over time , always in coordination with the Estancia Cerro Negro and its administration.
Living here means having access to a vast, vibrant, and diverse territory where nature, production, and daily life coexist. It's a place that invites you to go out, move around, explore, and participate , understanding that inhabiting Patagonia is, above all, an active experience.
